Carmel: Storehouse
Carmel: Storehouse is a branch of carmel: designed to provide practical help to those in need both within the church and in the community
Sometimes a crisis or extreme situations can cause people to be without food or clothing, furniture or white goods.
carmel: Storehouse aims to meet those needs wherever possible. On a weekly basis, carmel: Storehouse operates a Soup Run, providing the homeless with soup, sandwiches, toiletries, clothing and blankets. At Christmas, additional food parcels are given to those who might otherwise find this season barren.
Perhaps the most important aspect of this department is the time taken with those provided for, especially those who are homeless.
The Storehouse team are out on the streets, in the dark, in all weathers, giving comfort and hope to those often rejected by society.
They build relationships and trust, helping and encouraging people rebuild their broken lives, often linking them with other organisations that can help them.
The overall aim of carmel: Storehouse is to address the whole person rather than just providing the basics, so as not to leave them more destitute than they found them.
